Disability Royal Commission
Find out about QCIE's submission to the Disability Royal Commission.
We believe that Inclusive Education is better for everyone. We base this on 50 years of research, it is the human right of every child as outlined by the UN CRPD and it is backed by Australian Law (DDA 1992 and DSE 2005)."
Over the past few years we have built a warm and positive reputation with students and families across Queensland, with our efforts to advocate, support and promote true inclusion. We were buoyed in 2018 by the release of the Department of Education’s Inclusive Education Policy Statement and the accompanying work of the Disability and Inclusion branch in facilitating the implementation of this in schools across Qld (education.qld.gov.au/students/inclusive-education).
We have been very open about our desire to work collaboratively with the Department in effecting real change and our willingness to include open and frank feedback as an element of this collaborative work.

Our QCIE Peer Support Network is a key element of our community engagement. This includes the closed Facebook group, coffee mornings and dinners. These are fundamental to building and maintaining ourselves as effective advocates for our children. We are slowly building Peer Support networks throughout Queensland.
First and foremost, all members advocate for their own children and are part of the QCIE Peer Support Network to build their network, knowledge and sustain themselves as advocates.
