The purpose of requesting contribution and inviting collaboration includes:
The purpose of requesting contribution and inviting collaboration includes:
- QCIE is by its definition a “collective”;
- QCIE’s submission will focus on the experiences of children with disability and their families regarding their educational experience and interactions with the QLD education system;
- To explore themes and ensure the experiences of children and families is captured authentically and accurately;
- Adults with disability, families, and staff (schools, department, allied health etc) may be fearful of engaging directly with the DRC. The QCIE submission may provide opportunity to be heard while minimising concerns about backlash or privacy;
- The topics being explored are complex. Where more information is needed, and when people are identified as adding value to the submission through experience or skillset, they will be invited to work on that theme for the QCIE submission;
- Demonstrate to the DRC how we went about collecting stories and understanding issues – the depth and breadth of our submission.

ASAN's Kathy Isaacs on the advice service providers are receiving about the Royal Commission.
"As a disabled person playing the role of “fly on the wall” in this seminar, I was surprised at how seriously and even powerfully the disabled community were being represented by these lawyers, who clearly wanted to impress on the guests that *any* powerless and marginalised group of people have more power in numbers – and with a Royal Commission behind them – than those who are the subjects of the inquiry have previously paused to consider."
